What This Trip Really Was
We headed to Italy for the DB Expo and a masterclass with some of the best technicians in the world.
The trip itself? Chaos.
Missed connections.
Luggage showing up two days late.
Buying clothes just to get through the week.
But once things got rolling…
This turned into one of the most valuable weeks I’ve had in a long time.
Not because of anything flashy —
but because of what we saw up close.
The Truth About High-Level PDR
The best technicians in the world aren’t doing magic.
They’re doing the same fundamentals we all use…
Just at a completely different level.
The Biggest Pattern All Week
👉 Patience
This came up over and over again.
Not casually — consistently.
Top technicians:
- Move slower
- Make smaller adjustments
- Stay disciplined
They’re not chasing quick wins.
They’re building the repair step by step.
Preparation Is the Real Skill
Before the first push or pull even happens:
- Tools are dialed in
- Access is figured out
- Strategy is mapped
Nothing is random.
Everything is intentional.
That was one of the biggest differences you could feel just being in the room.
Different Styles — Same Result
One of the most interesting parts of the week was seeing completely different approaches:
- Old-school tool modification and precision
- New-school systems and glue pulling
Different styles… same outcome:
👉 High-level, controlled repairs
There’s more than one way to get there —
but there is a right level of execution.
Why Events Like This Matter
If there’s one takeaway that hit harder than anything else:
👉 You cannot replace being in the room
At events like DB Expo, you:
- Learn faster
- See things differently
- Get exposed to new tools
- Build real relationships
And maybe most importantly…
You raise your standard.
The People Behind the Episode
This episode features conversations with technicians and industry leaders from all over the world:
- Zan Vidic
- Wayne (Just PDR)
- Jonathan (JVF Tools)
- Bart (KECO Europe)
- Diego (KECO Swiss)
- Keith Cosentino (PDR College / Black Plague)
- Matt Boyette (The Dent Slayer)
- Martin Sadler
- Robbert (Freestyle Services, Netherlands)
Each one brought a different perspective — but the message stayed consistent.
The Bigger Message
The best technicians in the world are still learning.
They’re still:
- experimenting
- refining
- showing up
And a lot of them are doing something else too…
👉 They’re sharing what they know
Final Thought
If you feel stuck…
If you feel like you’ve plateaued…
It’s probably not your tools.
It’s your exposure.
Get around better people.
Get in better rooms.
And keep pushing forward.
